Start Studying Now

The end of the semester is rapidly approaching. Semester tests will be the 17th and 18th of December. What can students do now to get ready for their tests?

1. Begin to get organized. Organize notes according to subject areas, and in choronological order.
2. Use a highlighter and highlight each of the objectives that the teacher has given in class.
3. Ask questions! If you are unclear about something, talk to the teacher.
4. With a different color highlighter, highlight the vocabulary and definitions that you have in your notes. Sometimes teachers define words that are not in the book and sometimes it is hard to find the definitions in the book.
5. Eat right and get some rest. This is definitely important this time of year. Try to eat balanced meals and use the time to relax.

Welcome to the Study Tips page!

It is not uncommon for teachers (and parents) to hear kids say "I just did not know what to study for!" We have been working on several strategies in class to help students. Today's strategy: Identifying the question based on the objective.
Students were asked to create mini "flip books" to give them clues as to the possible question that will appear on the test based on the objective that is shared with them at the beginning of class.
A possible objective could be: create a collage in Photoshop using the elements of design

The word CREATE is listed as one of the key words for an application question. Possible questions that may appear on the test could be:
How can you organize your photos to show the timeline of events?
How would you apply what you learned to create a collage of events from your high school career?
How would you show your understanding of the rule of thirds if given photos of you in each grade?

Students in the freshman applications class will begin using this method to identify possible questions for their finals in the classes in which they are enrolled.

Please see the Freshman Applicaations page to download the information students used to create these flip books.
